Quiet, Please! Good Neighboring Important At MINExpo® 2008

A Good Neighbor Policy will be fully in effect at MINExpo®. That means that exhibitors must keep noise to a reasonable level so that all exhibitors have an optimal opportunity to show and describe their products and services to show attendees. The maximum allowable decibel level on the show floor is 80 db.

Here are some tips to help you maintain an appropriate noise level at your exhibit:

  • No internal combustion engines may be used in exhibits.
  • Don’t operate noisy equipment continuously, but only periodically throughout the day (for example, once every hour or half-hour for short durations).
  • Use quieter gears and adjust gears before use.
  • Use rubber padding (including under operating machines) wherever possible to deaden noise.
  • Operate only one machine at a time.
  • Use rheostats to control speed, particularly where a machine is noisy at high speed and can be demonstrated reasonably well at lower speed.
  • All engines must have an effective noise muffler.
  • The use of loudspeakers, sound projection equipment and other sound augmenting devices will be permitted only if used at low volume levels that are not objectionable to surrounding exhibitors. Please describe in detail your plans for sound amplification and indicate your scheduled presentation times using the Sound Projection Approval Form located at the Exhibitor Services tab on the MINExpo website.
  • Exhibitors planning musical “production numbers” must have prior approval of show management (hei). Live bands are not permitted.

In all cases, the decision of hei, the show management firm, on all noise-level questions will be final.
